The St. Charles History Museum’s Fall Historic House Tour has long been a dream of mine! My mom took us to so many historic house museums growing up, and we’ve gone to the Elgin historic house tour for decades. I always hoped that something like this would happen in St. Charles so I am so glad to see the @stc_history putting on such an excellent showcase of our beautiful domestic architecture! What a fun way to spend the afternoon with my friend and fellow St. Charles enthusiast @mtheresafaith, too! I recently obtained this vintage hummingbird & lotus vase secondhand (with another equally as lovely). The owner’s mother had brought it with her when she immigrated from Korea. I decided to try drying my own hydrangeas in it as a dining room centerpiece, a bit of summer inspiration all year long. I can’t stop looking at it 😍 Thank you labor movement for this long weekend! No working 9-5 for us the past several days, but plenty of fun with friends and family! September 2003. My first visit to Amsterdam. It’s been too long, friend! From hiking Sedona’s desert to sailing Lake Michigan, this summer (like any summer) can only be described as fleeting. Read my poem “Summer Sestina, 2026” on lisamacaione.com. Happy #NationalParkWeek! This summer we took a long road trip out west and stopped in three national parks. Arches National Park @archesnps has blazed a flame in my mind ever since, and I am prolonging the wonder I felt for that fiery, far out land by reading Edward Abbey’s book Desert Solitaire about his years spent there more than half a century ago. I was enjoying being outdoors on this lovely day given to us by Mother Nature, reading my physical library book, when the human mail carrier came along and brought me an envelope containing this tangible @moveon sticker! Europe feels a little less far this morning—My daughter and I woke up early and went to @marius.french.bakery’s opening day for pastries! A pan au chocolat for her, brioche e chocolat for my other daughter and Anthony, and a classic croissant for me. It’s less than a mile from our house which means soon I’ll be riding my bike home with a baguette just like I was always meant to 😄🇫🇷🚲🥖 Page to Stage 2027 was kicked off this past week at St. Charles Writers Group with a visit from actor/director Trevor Luce! Trevor, who has participated in our productions the past few years, gave the writers insight into crafting pieces that shine on stage while considering the collaborative nature of theatre arts. This season is surely on its way to being the best one yet!
