Talking about two of my favorite subjects, poetry and art, for #nationalpoetrymonth with so many brilliant friends @stcharlesartscouncil this morning? A DREAM 🤩 The 4th Annual Poetry Reading @st.charlespubliclibrary. I so love hearing everyone’s creations! Always a joy to be a part of during #nationalpoetrymonth. New Thai/Lao/Vietnamese place in St. Charles @soksaykitchen! Spring break scenes 🩵 The St. Charles Writers Group was pleased to welcome Susan Friedland @saddleseekshorse at this morning’s meeting! In a funny turn of events, I happened to meet Susan almost a year ago at the 100th Annual Pony Penning event on Chincoteague Island, Virginia, and we discovered we were both from the Chicago suburbs. Today the group got to learn about her journey as a horsewoman/blogger who became a historian/author researching children’s book award-winning writer Marguerite Henry (who was also from this area)! I personally was enthralled to have some of my favorite subjects come together in one presentation. The SCWG loves a local writer and will follow along as Susan continues to preserve and produce beloved stories! New: “The Year of the Fire Horse, or: How I Missed Last Month’s Blog Post.” Link in bio. When’s the last time you used a paper map? 🗺️ This year marks the 100th anniversary of Historic Route 66 and we’ve got plans on the horizon! Today is both #WorldPoetryDay and still #WomensHistoryMonth, which leads me to recall my favorite lines of my all-time favorite poem, “One Art” by Elizabeth Bishop: Wednesday wanderings
